Historical exhibitions

From July 2022, the new exhibition halls of the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church Tower are open to the public.

Jelgava Holy Trinity Church. The exhibitions are located on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the tower.  They are designed as a contemporary interior installation, where the exhibits are complemented by the latest technologies integrated in multimedia. The conceptual motto of the exhibitions is ‘Dual Reality’, which gives visitors the opportunity to view the history of Jelgava interactively, discovering information gradually, and to explore historical facts through different senses – with both visual and sound effects, and the opportunity to virtually try on ancient jewellery and historical wedding clothes.

The historical exhibitions are open from Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–18:00.

The tourism information centre, exhibition hall and observation deck are open on Tuesdays, 10:00–18:00, Wednesday to Saturday, 10:00–20:00, Sundays, 11:00–18:00, on Mondays the tower is closed to the public.

At the tourism information centre you can get up-to-date tourist information and free tourist materials about recreational opportunities in Jelgava and its surroundings, as well as in other Latvian cities. Information is available in Latvian and foreign languages. Visitors of the TIC can view an interactive map of the city and send a virtual greeting from a special screen.

The replacement of the tower's exposition was implemented with the support of ERDF project No. 5.5.1.0/19/I/005 “Preservation and Development of Cultural Heritage in Jelgava City”. The tower's history exhibitions were designed and developed by DJA, technology and management by Solavi, multimedia development by Putnu studija, programming by Overly, production and assembly by Yes we can. The historians Jānis Šiliņš, Edīte Parute, Jelgava Municipality, Jelgava History and Art Museum of Ģederts Eliass, and Jelgava Regional Tourism Centre worked on the content of the exhibitions.
