From 11:00, visitors to the Old Town Street Quarter will be welcomed by the romantic melodies of a hurdy-gurdy player. Nearby, visitors will also have the opportunity to see a restored RAF minibus from the historic vehicle collection of “Anru Motors”, as well as the iconic car from the film “Mirage”. The visual setting will be complemented by the exhibition of historical photographs of Jelgava, “Then and Now”, as well as an exhibition of works created by students of the Jelgava School of Art during their summer plein-air practice. Guests will be able to take photos at a photo wall with a photo booth. And, of course, there will be delicious food and drinks offered by the quarter’s cafés and market vendors.

This year, special attention has been given to the children’s programme – visitors can look forward to pets, amusement rides, horseback riding, a children’s train, creative workshops, face painting, hair braiding, Kamishibai (paper) theatre performances and a foam party.

During the celebrations, a market featuring home producers and artisans will operate in the Old Town Quarter. There will also be concerts, masterclasses and various demonstrations – from fruit tree care and yarn dyeing to restoration, screen printing and traditional crafts. History enthusiasts will be able to join guided tours of the Old Town Street Quarter.

At the end of the day, visitors are invited to enjoy a musical afternoon and a traditional open-air dance with the band “Deserts”. Admission to the dance is free of charge.

Traffic restrictions: Please note that on 15 August, from 8:00 to 20:00, Vecpilsētas Street will be closed to traffic, as will the section of Jāņa Asara Street from Vecpilsētas Street to Krišjāņa Barona Street, and the section of Krišjāņa Barona Street from Lielā Street to Vecpilsētas Street. Parking will also not be permitted in the specified area during this time. Visitors are encouraged to park their cars on nearby streets, such as Dobeles Street.

During the event, photographs and video recordings will be made for event publicity and public information purposes, documenting and reflecting the work process, the use of funds, ensuring continuity of information for future generations, and contributing to the development of culture and preservation of cultural heritage.
